Pioneer DMH-1800NEX CarPlay + backup camera in a Jeep Wrangler
This Jeep Wrangler came in for modern phone integration and a better view out back. We fit a Pioneer DMH-1800NEX — a 6.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — and added a backup camera that clears the blind spot the tailgate-mounted spare tire creates.
A Wrangler carries its spare on the tailgate, so the rear-view mirror shows you tire instead of traffic — which makes a backup camera one of the best upgrades you can put on one. We mounted the camera cleanly at the rear and wired it to a new Pioneer DMH-1800NEX up front, so dropping into reverse now puts a clear picture on the screen. The Pioneer brings the rest current too: wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hands-free Bluetooth calling and audio, all on a bright 6.8-inch touchscreen that sits factory-clean in the dash.
