Kenwood DMX1058XR — wireless CarPlay in a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500

Chevy Silverado 1500 · Jensen Beach, FL · Recent build

This 2016 Silverado 1500 came in with the small factory radio. We replaced it with a Kenwood DMX1058XR — a 10.1-inch HD floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — for a far bigger, clearer screen and modern phone integration.

Behind the build

The DMX1058XR is a big, crisp 10.1-inch capacitive HD display that floats proud of the dash, so maps and media are far easier to read than the little factory screen it replaced. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto mean the owner's phone connects the moment they get in — navigation, music and calls, no cable. This same unit fits the whole 2014–2018 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra family, so if you've got one of these trucks, this is the upgrade.

Kenwood eXcelon Reference

This Silverado got Kenwood's flagship — the eXcelon Reference DMX1058XR. It's the unit we reach for when the screen should be the nicest thing on the dash: a big, bright 10.1-inch HD display, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a reference-grade audio section you can actually tune to the truck. Here's what it brings to your daily drive.

Wireless Apple CarPlay

Your iPhone connects the moment you get in — Maps, calls, texts and music on the big screen, with the cable left in the glovebox.

Wireless Android Auto

The same effortless wireless connection for Android — Google Maps, Assistant and your music, ready before you've buckled up.

10.1″ HD floating display

A bright 1280×720 HD touchscreen that reads clearly at a glance — on a floating panel that adjusts four ways to sit right in the Silverado's dash.

eXcelon Reference sound

Kenwood's flagship audio section — a 13-band graphic plus 14-band parametric EQ and time alignment — so your system is tuned to your truck and your ears, not left flat.

Hi-Res Audio over Bluetooth

Streams high-resolution audio wirelessly via LDAC — noticeably closer to the studio master than ordinary Bluetooth.

Built-in HD Radio

Free, built-in HD Radio — clearer FM and AM, plus extra digital stations, with no subscription to buy.

SiriusXM 360L ready

Add a SiriusXM tuner and you get 360L — satellite and streaming channels together, controlled right on the screen.

Bluetooth 5.2

Pair two phones at once and take clear, hands-free calls — yours and your passenger's, both connected.

Up to four cameras

Rear, front and blind-spot camera inputs with adjustable parking lines — and it's dash-cam ready when you want a record of the road.

Keep your steering-wheel controls

iDatalink Maestro-ready, so your factory steering-wheel buttons, chimes and truck info keep working exactly as they should.

USB-C fast charging

A modern USB-C port with 3-amp rapid charging keeps your phone topped up while it's busy running CarPlay all day.
